You Know Your Tall When....

NOTE: If you are easily offended, please stop reading now and consult your "I am Short Guide" by Napolean for Positive Reinforcement.

You Know Your Tall When...

  • While using the public restroom, somebody asks over the stall door..."Why are you standing on the toilet seat?"

  • People refer to you as the "Jolly Green Giant". Most of the time I am not Jolly let alone Green so what is the deal? How would you like it if I refered to you as one of the 7 Dwarfs, Santa's Elf, a Munchkin from Munchkin Land, or an Oompa Loompa?

  • While walking down a hotel hallway an instant puff of air freshener coats the side of your face with fresh lemon scent. What are the odds of me walking past an automatic air freshener and having it TAG my face perfectly? I did smell good the rest of the evening.

  • You remove hair and a chunk of skin on the top of your head from a fire sprinkler nozzle located on the ceiling.

  • Most showers hit you in the mid stomach area.

  • You can't push on the gas pedal and steer the car at the same time due to the lack of leg room (compact cars). Upon arriving at the National Rental Facility in Chicago, in which all cars in the lot where "compact" in size, I proceeded to try and sit in each one. The purpose of this was to see which one I would fit into the best and be able to drive safely. Near the end of my Sitting Spree I noticed that 8 rental facility workers were pointing and laughing histerically at my situation! Luckily I didn't crash on this trip. Maybe the next time someone comes upto me in the grocery store and asks for my help getting something off the top shelf, I will just point and start laughing histerically!!!!!

  • While putting on your shirt in the morning, the ceiling fan proceeds to play the drums with your forearm.

  • Hallway EXIT signs become "You are Tall" reminders. Right now I have knocked down 4 exits signs with my forehead. Mainly in Hotel hallways....Sorry Marriott.

  • You buy a T-Shirt that says....."Keep Staring....I might do a Trick!!!" Yes this is borderline Klampity and a bit RedNeck-ish, but it gets the point across!!

  • Clothes at the Big & Tall stores don't even fit! They should rename these stores "Big & Fat".
  • Birds use the top of your head for target practice.
  • You frequently clear the path of spider webs and cobwebs with your hair.
  • People ask if they can use you for Shade.
  • Your wife has to stand on a chair to give you a hug or look you in the eyes.
  • People start guessing how tall you are. I hear "What are you 6'2"...6'3" all of the time!!!!
  • You have to play LIMBO with the top of door ways. I walked through a 9 foot doorway and out of habit ducked my head. The person behind me asked why I ducked my head through the door. THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • You can lock the passenger door from the driver's seat without moving.
  • You don't fit in the Dentist chair!
  • You cannot stand straight up in most parking garages.
  • You are referred to as a Tree, Giraffe, Totem Pole, Ladder....you get my drift. Again, maybe I should start likening these short people to chihuahua's, step stools, or ants. My guess is that they wouldn't appreciate that.
  • By the way.....SHOUTING....."Hows the weather up there!!!".....is NOT a proper conversation piece.
  • Your extra pair of shoes takes up 50% of your luggage.
  • That darn "Watch your Head" Fairy follows you around. One day I will catch that little bugger!
  • You look in the mirror in the morning and all you see is your torso.
  • Persons you are aquainted with point out that if they are ever caught in a lightning storm with you that you will be the first one struck! Better yet, I will just grab you, put you on my shoulders....that way, we both go down!
  • You don't fit into airline lavatories.
  • People trip over your feet while you are sitting down in normal sitting position. It's not done on purpose, you just need to navigate yourself around my feet (My personal space is a little bit more than standard). Would reflector strips or strobe lights on my shoes help???
  • You are randomly given a description of what a person is wearing, and asked if you can spot them in a crowd.
  • You make most people feel short when they are around you. In my book, you are short, so get used to it!!!!
  • YES, It's called "Napolean Syndrome" or "Short Man's Syndrome". I am sooo sorry that YOUR parents gave you YOUR short genes...It is not my fault...Drop your anger towards me...and get over it!!!! You should have eaten your vegetables and Wheaties!!
  • When Grocery Store Callout Tags or Isle Violators SLAP you in the face!! There is a good reason why I stand in the middle of the isle. The least amount of bodily harm can occur there.
  • Room service leaves you a polite note asking you not to untuck the sheets at the foot of the bed. HELLO!!! I DON'T FIT IN YOUR BED! What do you want me to do? Cut off my feet above the ankles?!! SERIOUSLY!!!!!!
  • The doctors office measuring device (on the scale) does not go past 6'8" and the nurse has to ask you how tall you are.
  • People ask you what they can do, or what their sons can do, to be as tall as you! Um...let me see....send them to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory and have them stretched out on the Taffy Puller!!! Like genes have absolutely nothing to do with it!!! NOTE to Self...If your Mom and Dad are short, you have a pretty good chance of being short yourself!!!
  • The first words out of strangers mouths are...."You're Tall"! DUH!!! REALLY!!! That's what people keep telling me! Golly Gee Wickers...you are the first person to point that out! Thanks!!!
  • You are asked if you can give up a couple of inches, so the short person can be taller! The answer is.....NO!!! Go buy some shoes that make you taller or hang around people shorter than you!!!

Again....This is for humor, but is very real and are situations that I deal with on a daily basis. If I did any of the following to all the short people out there, I would not have any friends first off, and I would probably get into a lot of fist fights. ENJOY!!!!

Happy LATE Birthday Michael!!!!!!

My dear hubby was born September 1, 1976. He was born in the LDS hospital in SLC, Utah. Side note, this is where Lou was born. She could have been delivered by the same doctor but he was on vacation! So one of his interns delivered her!! Cool!
I am so thankful for him! He is a wonderful husband! I am so lucky to have him!!!

Here are just a few reasons I love him so much!

Last week he gave me a pedicure with cute nails and a cute little flower on my big toes. He loves me so much. He sticks by me even when I am a grump. He helps clean up the house. He likes to cook, especially Sunday dinner! He is a great cook too! He is interested in my life and my friends. He listens to me, even when I go on and on and on!!! We are sealed for all time and Eternity. He likes going to church. He answers my silly questions! He has a great sense of style! He helps me with my lack of style! His family is important to him. Michael LOVES his family, not just us girls but, his brothers and sisters, parents, grand parents, his in laws, that is you too Jason! and cousins. He is funny!! He is a hard worker. He cares for others.

I am sorry this is late Michael, but I did want to tell you and the entire blogger world how much I love you!

Almost caught up!

I am really almost caught up with my posting!! I spent a long time tonight looking through my dear friend's blogs. It was so fun! I am so lucky to have such a great support group! I love each and every one of you!! I have a few dear friends who do not blog. I am so glad you suggested I create one!! It is neat!
I so appreciate this new school bedtime!! I have so much more time for myself! I wished I would have done this when they were younger too! They go to bed about 7:30! Bay a little later, but it is still nice!
I have also been able to work a little for the clinic! It feels good to be needed outside of the home too! I get to make a little mad $$ also!
I finally feel, in my life not just my blog, I am getting caught up. I have actually done the dishes every day since Saturday!! Before, I would go, well. . . until we needed them!!!!! Kind of gross but oh well, I can only do better!! I have actually been keeping up on other cleaning in our home! It feels better!
Just one big smile right now!! I can take a breath!

First Day of School!

Koko is in second grade! Her BRAND NEW school is called Parkview Elementary! It is so cool! It is so big too! I think she was a little worried about getting lost. She has not been lost yet! She loves everything about it! Her teacher, Mrs. Bradshaw, is great! she loves to read as Koko does!
Koko is the Student of the Week!!!!! They have a pep rally every Friday and the staff picks one boy and one girl from each grade to be the student of the week! She was chosen on the very first week!! Her picture is on the wall by the office! I am so proud of her! She is such a great student! She is a great daughter!! I love you Koko!!

Her classroom is so cool! It is decorated like a jungle!

Lou's staples

We have never had stitches/staples in our home! This was a first for us. They were sort of wiggly and not very tight in her head! They looked like they would bother her. They didn't seem to unless I forgot about them while brushing her hair! FYI, I didn't brush the actual staples. It just would pull her scalp a little.

This part was so cool, well at least for Michael. So when we were at the hospital they told us that we would be taking the staples out. We both looked at each other and thought we would just call Kimball!! He would love to do it! So they sent us home with this little tool. Well it was time to take it out and we agreed that we would each take one out, we didn't want to bother Kimball, again!!!! So Michael pinched the first one and it came right out! It was so cool. I was now very excited to get to take the other one out!!! The punk wouldn't let me, he did it!
Lou thought it was pretty cool too! She said it didn't even hurt! She is so brave and tough!!

Soon to come. . .

It is getting late but I needed to commit myself! I am going to post about first day of school, Lou's staples, and my moms pics from CO. Gotta get to bed!
Just to let you all know, my dear Aunt Pat ended her journey here with us. She is no longer in pain! Our family is doing OK. I look forward to seeing her when it is my time! I hope I can be as strong as she was!! She will be missed!

Bay update!

She is doing great now!
For those of you who didn't know, our little Bay Bay had her tonsils and adenoids removed & another set of tubes put in her ears Aug. 21, which was a Thursday. On Sunday we went to the ER because she was dehydrated. She would not drink! We tried everything from frosty's to Sonic drinks to SEVERAL different kinds of Popsicles. You name it we probably tried it. They pumped her up with IV fluids and we were on our way home. Well, she still was not drinking so Wed. we ended up back in the ER. This time the Dr. came and said that we were going to be admitted oh, this was after over four hours in the ER!! It was a shock, but on the other hand it would mean a break for us and Bay would not struggle so much! They kept an IV in and kept her full of fluids. She still would not drink. Friday after school, Koko and Lou came up to see her. Bay loved it!! She was so happy to see them! She even ate spaghetti with them. She drank two cartons of chocolate milk!! It was great! It was the first time she had eaten in 8 days!!!! That night her IV blew, it wasn't good anymore, and they had to give her the antibiotics orally! After puking all over herself, the nurse and me, and having to take it again. . . she wouldn't drink in the morning! By about 2:00 Sat. she started drinking again and we were released that evening. Now she won't stop eating!! It is good because she has lost weight! We are all doing much better now. That week we were not getting much sleep at all! We are thankful things are back to "normal"!

They did do another hearing test, ABR, while she was asleep after surgery. She passed the left ear but failed on the right ear in the lower tones. We go back to the Pediatric Audiologist in early Oct. We will find out what's next. We started speech therapy this week.
This one was taken on the 31 by Koko.
Both of these are before surgery. She so does not want to be here!

On the way home from surgery.
Sorry about the side way pics. I didn't know how to rotate them on my new computer! Just turn your head! he he he

Colorado According to Koko!

Here are the pictures Koko took while on vacation.

This is my cousin Maddison.
Denise and Richard above & Cindy and Brad below. They are cousins also.

Mommy and daddy had so much fun in the belly boats. I got in one too! My mom will post pictures of those later. They caught a lot of fish. Mommy even touched them, sort of! Grandpa Tim would get mad when she screamed while trying to grab a floppy fish!! It was funny.
Grandpa Tim is ready to catch some big ones!
This is Jacob, Elle & Lou.

We all had so much fun!

Colorado pictures!

I am so excited! I got a new computer! Now all I have to do is figure out Vista for Windows!! It took me about an hour or so to figure out how to find where the computer put my pics!
It feels good to post!
OK so I forgot my camera when we went to Colorado! I know, how sad. I did remember about 40 minutes away and Michael said there was no way we were going back. He was smart! As if 14 hours wasn't enough ahead of us. No need to tack on more!
Michael does have a camera and realized he had it! So good, and my mom always takes a million of pictures! Well not a million but probably a thousand, NOT KIDDING! She might not have gotten to take as many this time because Michael and I sort of left them with the girls A LOT!! We needed the break together! We had a great time too!

The girls were great wood gatherers.

My dad, Tim Distel, owns AGteck. He is a mechanic. He also sells tractors. Let me brag about my dad for a moment, I am so proud of him. He and his partner just opened a new shop. It is huge! They actually have two shops! So cool! He works so hard and deserves a nicer and bigger shop!!Here we are at his shop. He let us drive a brand new tractor he is selling! I was actually most surprised he let me drive it! The girls loved it! It was pretty fun! I felt like Wendy from Bob the Builder!!

Stuff like this really makes me wish we could live closer to family!! Thank goodness for web cams and blogs!! Not as good as the real thing though.
